As Democrats continued their efforts to impeach President Donald J. Trump, Maryland Rep. Steny Hoyer (D) gave a speech about the responsibility and solemn duty of members to support impeachment. At one point, his comments caused Republicans in the House to break out in laughter.
“Democrats did not choose this impeachment,” Hoyer said. “We did not wish for it.”
Hoyer’s comments were interrupted by laughter and boos.
After a pause, Hoyer went on, “We voted against it three times, as recently as July.”
Hoyer’s comments came after many Republicans pointed out during the proceedings that Democrats, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Cali.), have been gunning for impeachment since Trump was elected.
Earlier Wednesday, DML News App Founder Dennis Michael Lynch said, “It’s always been the plan to impeach this present. Since the day he started. The news outlets, Nancy Pelosi, they’ve all had one agenda: impeach the president.”
“Democrats did not choose this impeachment,” Dem. Rep. Steny Hoyer says. “We voted against it three times, as recently as July.”
