CNN anchor Jake Tapper said Tuesday that President Donald Trump’s letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) is “almost like a letter Kim Jong-un wrote.”
“The president says that this is all about Democrats not able [sic] to get over his win in 2016. About Pelosi, he says, ‘You view democracy as your enemy,'” Tapper said. “Honestly this is almost like a letter that Kim Jong-un wrote. The hyperbole is really, really strong.”

Tapper further quoted a section of the letter in which Trump writes to Pelosi that “no intelligent person believes” her claim that she is approaching impeachment “somberly, reservedly, and reluctantly.”
“You know, that’s not accurate,” Tapper said.
The White House sent the six-page letter, which blasts the House Democrats’ impeachment inquiry, to Pelosi on the eve of the House’s vote on impeachment. It accuses Democrats of “an unprecedented and unconstitutional abuse of power… unequaled in nearly two and a half centuries of American legislative history,” and says that they have “cheapened the importance of the very ugly word, impeachment.”
“More due process was afforded to those accused in the Salem Witch Trials,” the letter reads.
The House is expected to vote on Wednesday on two articles of impeachment against Trump. A Senate trial is expected once the Senate returns from its recess in early 2020.
