The 25-year-old singer paid tribute to some of her idols in the music video for her new single You Should Be Sad, channeling the likes of Christina Aguilera, Lady GaGa, Carrie Underwood, and Shania Twain in what looked like the ultimate revenge hoedown!
As for the “nods,” viewers noticed Halsey wore the same leopard print ensemble Shania wore in the video for her ‘90s smash, That Don’t Impress Me Much, and was rocking the same eye makeup Underwood donned in the Cry Pretty music video.
Ch-ch-check out the video (above) and see if you can find all the badass references!
The leading ladies of music came to SLAY at the American Music Awards, stepping out on Sunday in some major fashion moments.
All eyes were on Taylor Swift, who was at the center of some CRAZY drama leading up to the show, and she didn’t disappoint with her sparkling green dress, either. But she wasn’t the only one who wowed on the red carpet!
Next month, Netflix is doubling down on the award season push it began in November with Martin Scorsese‘s The Irishman. Everyone is buzzing about the tremendous performances by Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver in Marriage Story, and they’re only on the streaming service in December.
But it’s not all Oscar bait — Netflix is also bringing the action with hunky Henry Cavill (and his real upper lip) in the fantasy series The Witcher. And Ryan Reynolds leads the troops in the Michael Bay explosion extravaganza 6 Underground.
And don’t expect any statues for the third installment in the guilty pleasure Christmas Prince franchise — even with a Royal Baby in tow!
We saved the best for last! Stormi may not even be two yet, but she has already rocked multiple Halloween costumes.
First up, she was a beautiful pink butterfly since her momma is a known fan (she has been seen rocking a massive blinged-out butterfly necklace, and has a matching butterfly tatt with Travis), so it was no surprise she and Kylie matched (above) for Halloween:
The rapper and her ex-con fiancé Kenneth Petty revealed back in August how they already obtained a marriage license, meaning they had just 80 days left to get hitched! So, it sounds like they finally did the damn thing on Monday!
Minaj, ahem Miz Petty, took to Instagram yesterday with a video showing off their “Mrs.” and “Mr.” mugs, along with hats embroidered with “Bride” and “Groom.”
“We got the marriage license, now I just have to wait until my pastor that I love comes and does it for us. The big wedding and all that stuff, that will happen, but just not at this moment.”
While Nicki spilled she has a “dope designer” for her wedding gown and is “really excited” to say “I Do,” she’s ignoring the “hoopla,” and ready to start her future with her love:
“When I was little, I always imagined princess and marriage and the wedding and now it’s more to me about the life, the future, the love, the partnership, than the wedding. [It’s] so strange cause I didn’t expect myself to be one of those people who didn’t care about the hoopla, but I really don’t.”
The Queens native continued:
“… I just kind of feel like it doesn’t mean as much as it used to mean because the other part, the real part, I have it now and I’m so happy.”
After only making their relationship IG official in December 2018, it sounds like the star couldn’t wait to take this next step with her man!
And it appears there’s still a big wedding to come, most likely with celeb attendees, but for now, they can at least call each other “hubby” and “wifey”!
That’s a statement that seems to be true every day now, but today it’s over a list that came out nearly a decade ago — and it’s not just any list: it’s Rolling Stone’s Top 100 singers of all time, which is as definitive as Time’s Top 100 influential people of all time, or Perez Hilton’s Top 100 nip slips of all time.
Basically, it’s a big deal; and music fans do not agree with what they consider to be some key oversights.
The ranking was originally published in Rolling Stone’s November 27, 2008 issue before making its way online on December 3, 2010, so don’t expect the likes of Ariana Grande, Adele, or Sam Smith. Then again, that’s probably a good thing — seeing as critics are bemoaning the mag for leaving out several iconic vocalists altogether.
We mean, we have Aretha Franklin at No. 1, followed by legends like Ray Charles, Elvis Presley, and Sam Cooke. However, it quickly goes bananas from there: there’s not even another female artist on the list until Tina Turner rolls in at no. 17.
But that’s not where the real travesty lies with Twitter. Social media users are rightfully, dutifully upset the late great Whitney Houston placed number 34 on the list. Oh, and dog-whistler Mariah Carey? She came in at number 79.
SEVENTY F**KING NINE!
It raises the question: what does Rolling Stone consider the best singer? Is it an evocative, original voice, or actual singing ability? It would seem the publication leaned toward the former, since Mimi and Whitney in their best days could sing circles around most of the top 30.
Either way, critics had complaints:
Many are now accusing the publication of being biased:
We should note, readers didn’t have a problem with every entry. Christina Aguilera landed at the no. 58 spot in between Eric Burdon and Rod Steweart, and readers didn’t seem to be bothered by that placement.
But Bob Dylan wasn’t as fortunate. His name was trending on Twitter shortly after the list resurfaced because fans were not happy with him earning the no. 7 spot.
Others were appalled by the fact that singers Frank Sinatra, George Michael, Celine Dion, and Ella Fitzgerald were all left off the list:
Do U think this backlash will inspire Rolling Stone to make an updated version of this ranking? Even if they did, would Twitter ever be happy with it?
Gwyneth Paltrow received one of this year’s Courage Awards at amfAR’s annual gala on Thursday night in Los Angeles. Dan Bucatinsky and Don Ross, friends of Paltrow’s for many years, presented her with the award. “I didn’t prepare anything because I don’t think I really believe in thank you speeches but I did want to […]
Per its website, the organization aims “to provide safe shelter to abused and homeless women and women with children in crisis; as well as, offer life-changing services promoting stability, dignity, and self-reliance.”
While giving a speech, the 38-year-old teared up while discussing how domestic violence has affected her life and her art.
She told the audience:
“It’s just disgusting and it happens far too much to the people that we do love. It is very dear to my heart because I did grow up as a survivor of it. As I’m sure many of you are, and are affected by it… It’s such a part of who I am. The music that I make, the lyrics that I write, from Fighter to Beautiful. It truly does comes from the heart. If it doesn’t feel genuine to me, I just don’t do it… I’m just so happy and honored to be able to donate to this charity in particular.”
While talking about her childhood, the songstress said she, her little sister, and mother had to literally travel across the States to avoid malicious treatment.
“Growing up, I would have to escape in the middle of the night with my little sister and my mother and literally drive across the country. And luckily I had my grandmother who took us in. But if it wasn’t for that, I would’ve needed to come to a place and a resource like this.”
Of course, this is not the first time the musician has revealed harrowing details about her past.
In a 2018 interview with Paper magazine, the pop star opened up about how her mom was forced to deal with her abuser.
“I watched my mom have to be submissive, watch her Ps and Qs or she’s gonna get beat up… You can either be, unfortunately, so damaged by it that you take a turn for the worse, or you can feel empowered by it and make choices to never go down that route.”
“I hate when people say, ‘Why doesn’t she just leave?’ There’s psychological damage and mental abuse that comes with being in a situation like that… A lot of people don’t have the ability to vocalize it themselves or have the know-how to get out.”
If you are dealing with an abusive situation, you can call the National Domestic Violence helpline at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233).
For one, Demi Lovato attended the first show, and could not stop fangirling over the Genie In a Bottle singer.
The 26-year-old documented her entire evening on Instagram Story — she was flown into Sin City by Caesar’s Palace, screamed her face off during the performance, and even had a tender moment with Xtina backstage following the song and dance.
The Confident singer shared along with the (above) image:
“The f**king queen herself. A PERFECT, perfect show.. couldn’t believe it was opening night because it was so smooth, flawless and sounded incredible. I was entertained the entire time and was so bummed when it was over until I was reunited with this beauty. I’m so so happy I got to hug you @xtina, haven’t seen you in concert since I was 14 and I can’t believe how much life has changed since then. Honored to call you a friend keep it up queen. Oh and EVERYONE should go see #TheXperience at @phvegas!!!”
Besides Miz Lovato’s attendance, Christina also surprised audiences with a HUGE announcement during Saturday’s show — she’s working on a new Latin album!! SQUEE!
She confirmed with fans during her performance of Desnudate:
“Let’s not forget: the Latin album is coming!”
Check out some performance highlights from opening weekend (below)!
What A Girl Wants
Ain’t No Other Man
She shared before singing:
“This song has always been such a gigantic part of my history and my life, going from Mickey Mouse Club to the Mulan soundtrack, that’s what really kicked it off. This aligns with the message of tonight. We all wear a mask in some way — for our kids, for our jobs, for our families, for other people in general. When we go home, we get to take that mask off and look in the mirror and be who we really need to be at the end of a long day. Tonight I encourage you to take off your mask or put one on, feel free.”
Xtina has more shows to go, though we already see a residency extension in her future if the buzz keeps up. The over 90-minute spectacle is truly a feast of nostalgia and glam!

WASHINGTON — Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.), in the midst of his presidential bid, will speak at the Human Rights Campaign’s Los Angeles dinner on Saturday. Among those being honored at the event will be Christina Aguilera and Yeardley Smith (the voice of Lisa Simpson on “The Simpsons”), while artists Betty Who and Shea Diamond will […]
Had a bad day and need a boost? Had a great one and want to celebrate?
No matter what type of empowerment you’re after, these ladies have the tune for you.
So check out our list of the best girl power anthems of all times and let us know what just HAS to be added to the list in the comments (below)!
BEYONCE – RUN THE WORLD (GIRLS)
This isn’t a song. It’s a spell. It’s pure Beyoncé magic.
I’M EVERY WOMAN – CHAKA KHAN
A pure declaration of the power of femininity!
Whitney Houston may have gotten an even BIGGER hit with this one, and we love ’em both — but damn if the original isn’t the truth!
KATY PERRY – ROAR
OK, perpetually self aware Katy Perry was clearly going for the quintessential girl power anthem here… and she NAILED IT!
The song, co-written by the ultra-talented Bonnie McKee, paints a portrait of a woman trying to stay polite — and letting that keep her quiet, subdued, and controlled until she has to absolutely let it all out!
DOLLY PARTON – 9 TO 5
With that jaunty earworm beat listeners could be forgiven for completely missing the fact Dolly Parton‘s movie tie-in track is a love letter to women getting it done in a man’s world!
MEREDITH BROOKS – BITCH
Look, there’s a reason this was in EVERY girl power scene in the late ’90s. Taking the anger at being put in a box and spitting it back with wry humor? Perfect!
We love how Meredith Brooks takes ownership of what’s been used as a misogynist term for so long as she explains all the things women can be.
SHANIA TWAIN – MAN! I FEEL LIKE A WOMAN!
Girl power doesn’t always have to be about struggle. Sometimes just reveling in what it means to feel female in a completely uninhibited way.
BRITNEY SPEARS – STRONGER
Anyone singing “I’m not your property” would be a strong message. From Britney Spears, considering her history under conservatorship? It’s a bit, well, you know.
DONNA SUMMER – SHE WORKS HARD FOR THE MONEY
For all the working women out there, this song is… not for you exactly. It’s actually for all the jerks who need to be reminded about HOW YOU DESERVE TO BE TREATED! (But you get to dance to it too!)
KELLY CLARKSON – MISS INDEPENDENT
Kelly Clarkson has so many empowerment songs, but come on.
“Miss never let a man help her off her throne”?
Hell yeah, preach, gurl!
P!NK – F**KIN’ PERFECT
If you’ve been mistreated or misunderstood, this one is for you.
JOAN JETT – BAD REPUTATION
While anyone can enjoy a song about shrugging off the haters, but the label of difficult is one historically used by men, especially in the entertainment industry, to keep women under control. And not giving a damn about that is empowering as hell!
DEMI LOVATO – CONFIDENT
Generally speaking, men have never had a problem being confident. No, this song is a rallying cry for the ladies!
ELASTICA – STUTTER
It wasn’t Elastica‘s biggest hit, but it may be the only song on the radio sung by a woman to a man complaining about his inability to perform. Yeah.
Not only is it a high energy post-punk banger, it’s also one cathartic track for any woman who’s ever experienced a lack of satisfaction at the hands of a luvvah — and let’s face it, that’s every woman.
ARIANA GRANDE – GOD IS A WOMAN
LOLz, at the other end of the spectrum, this song is technically about how good Ariana Grande f**ks… but with that titular chorus, we mean, come on. Damn.
CHRISTINA AGUILERA – BEAUTIFUL
The first step to empowerment is accepting yourself. And if there has ever been a better song written about it, we haven’t heard it.
TRACY BONHAM – MOTHER MOTHER
This one is all about a girl trying to transcend to womanhood while her mom just can’t stop seeing her as a little girl.
Trust us, if you too have an overprotective mother, you will get a huge boost out of SCREAMING OUT the chorus in your car!

Before even getting there during Andy Cohen‘s “Plead the Fifth” segment (above), Xtina had some words for Eminem, telling him to “get a new gig” instead of continually bringing up her name in his music!
But going back to Pink, she didn’t hold back either, dishing:
“It’s so funny because I’ve seen her Behind the Music and I know she has some feelings about how the recording of Lady Marmalade went down.”
And added how “intimidated” she was of the So What artist, who apparently made her feelings known about Christina as they filmed the music video:
“She was heckling me in the audience a little bit behind the director. I was like, ‘Oh, What’s going on?’ But that’s what she did back then. She’s a different person now. She’s a mom. She’s cool.”
But speaking of the night in question, Aguilera remembered:
“I seem to have a different memory of a night we had at a club where we played spin the bottle. I have a love memory,” she explained. “Look at her and look at me, I wouldn’t swing on her! She can beat my ass, are you kidding me? I was excited about a kiss. I was like, a kiss and all’s good. And then she put her hand up like this [covering her mouth] and I was like, ‘Oh, that’s what we’re doing? Alright.’ She didn’t want to get dirty.”
The two have some very different accounts — but they’ve put it all in the past!
Perez’s recovery has ben a bit rough the past few days but we’re excited to get back into the swing of things!! Sharing the highs and lows following his hair transplant AND… lots of wackiness in the world of pop culture! Personal video AND a daily recap!
We talk JWoww and all the insanity with her allegedly abusive husband.
Blac Chyna continues to raise red flags about her parenting!
Kevin Hart does NOT deserve to be attacked for supporting Jussie Smollett!
Donuts make everything better. Donuts served by Christina Aguilera as she sings a personalized rendition of Genie In A Bottle? That can change the world! Watch the sweet Jimmy Kimmel Live prank (above)!
