The Kamala Harris campaign is fundraising off a viral confrontation at the Democratic debate between her and Joe Biden over race.
Perhaps the most memorable moment of Thursday’s debate was a jab from the California senator directed at the 76-year-old Biden over race issues. She declared, “ That little girl is me,” in regard to Biden’s past reticence over forced integration of public schools through busing. She had previously criticized Biden’s recent comments about working with two notorious segregationists decades ago.
The article goes on to state the following:
“It was not only that, but you also worked with them to oppose busing. There was a little girl in California who was part of the second class to integrate her public schools and she was bused to school every day,” Harris, 54, told Biden. “That little girl was me.”
Before the debate was even over, a childhood photo of Harris had popped up on her website, with her quote, “There was a little girl in California who was bussed to school. That little girl was me.”
Within hours, T-shirts with the same photo were announced for sale via an Instagram post.

Selling a T shirt of this right after the debate blew your “personal pain” out of the water. You tried to hurt Biden for your own gain. I’ve moved you off my consideration list. https://t.co/pDtLZQtH7e

— Adamstrangeart (@adamstrangeart) June 28, 2019
And selling those shirts minutes after saying it on the debate shows how you went in planning to tear into Biden. Hope you drop out soon before you ruin democrats chances!

@KamalaHarris I was impress with you last night, but today you went to far with selling your busing tee shirt. Being an opportunist is not what I want in a president. Bye bye. pic.twitter.com/xGUk62oWxj

Your exploitation of an issue to promote yourself is nothing but emotionally manipulative that is hurtful to the truth. Busing was ineffectual and those who opposed it were right to do so. Black leaders now oppose busing and in some areas schools are more segregated than in 1954

Wow! I was ready to support you. The next morning you’re selling T-shirt’s. I’m out!

Until last night I was going to vote for you. While I agree with what you said, that was many decades ago. You pulled the race card and you lost my vote. I’m tired of people of color playing the poor me card. You didn’t need to use it bc you are better than that. Shame on you.
