The new House Judiciary Committee impeachment report against President Trump alleges he committed specific crimes such as bribery and wire fraud, even though those criminal allegations don’t appear in the articles of impeachment.
The 169-page report was released late Sunday night, just days before the full House of Representatives will vote on whether Trump should be impeached on two articles that instead detail alleged abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. The new Democratic report says Trump could face decades in prison if convicted for these crimes, although a successful impeachment and conviction would only remove him from office.
The article goes on to state the following:
The Republican House Judiciary Committee report from early December states, “the evidence presented does not prove any of these Democrat allegations, and none of the Democrats’ witnesses testified to having evidence of bribery, extortion, or any high crime or misdemeanor.”
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D.-Cali.) was asked why the articles of impeachment against Trump did not specifically mention bribery, and she said (see below), “I myself am not a lawyer. Sometimes I act like one. Not as often as I act as a doctor. I practice medicine on the side without benefit of a diploma too. This was a decision that was recommended by working together with our committee chairs, our attorneys, and the rest.”
Several reports have found that despite Democrats’ reports and accusations against Trump, his approval numbers are edging up, his support among black voters is increasing, and swing-state voters have decided to stick with Trump.
DMLNewsApp founder Dennis Michael Lynch says he believes the Democrats’ impeachment of President Trump will help him in the 2020 election. Watch below.
