Withering celebrities were talking about gun control while they had 500 armed guards surrounding their venue as NASCAR slipped in some good old-fashioned American news for the masses. As people watched the Oscars suffer another staggering defeat with low ratings, proving that no one cares what celebrities say, the awesome people behind NASCAR had their fans cheering louder than the last three Oscars combined. Conservative fans of NASCAR will be very happy to hear that the Bristol Motor Speedway will retain its partnership with the National Rifle Association (NRA).
The NRA has remained strong amid the controversial partnerships being severed by liberally owned businesses as they cut away at the NRA membership discounts. Too many corporations cut ties with the civil rights group designed to protect the second amendment. This was a reaction to the Parkland, Florida school shooting. Ironically, neither the businesses nor the NRA had anything to do with the shooting; therefore they should not bicker about it. Unfortunately, not everyone has common sense, and too many people are fighting for the wrong reasons. It is refreshing to learn that Bristol Motor Speedway will not cut ties with their business partnership, nor will they cave to the pressure of liberal media. Specifically, the Bristol Motor Speedway will retain the NRA as a co-sponsor for their night race.
USA Today reported more on the announcement from the world of NASCAR:
“As some major corporations seek to distance themselves from the National Rifle Association following last month’s mass shooting at a Florida high school, Bristol Motor Speedway confirmed Thursday that the gun-rights group will continue to co-sponsor a NASCAR race at its racetrack in August.
“This has been a good, long-standing partnership and we plan to continue,” Bristol Motor Speedway said in a statement provided to USA TODAY Sports and other media outlets.
The NRA has co-sponsored the event at the Tennessee venue — which is officially titled the “Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race” and part of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series — since 2016.
In a 2015 press release announcing the sponsorship, Bristol Motor Speedway executive vice president and general manager Jerry Caldwell touted the agreement as a “well-suited partnership” because the three entities involved — Bass Pro Shops, the NRA and NASCAR — share the same customers.
NASCAR team owner Richard Childress, who is now the first vice president of the NRA, also described the sponsorship as a strong match.
“Racing fans and NRA members treasure their freedom and outdoor heritage, and the Night Race is where we go to celebrate that love of freedom, love of the shooting sports, and love of the great outdoors,” Childress said in a statement at the time.
A Bristol Motor Speedway spokesperson declined to discuss the terms of the sponsorship agreement when asked about its length and nature by USA TODAY Sports. NASCAR spokespeople did not immediately reply to a request for comment Thursday night.”
Some of the companies who cut ties with the NRA have suffered an unexpected backlash in the form of boycotts. Delta airlines faced the most significant wrath after they cut their NRA member discount program. Delta helped boost membership sales to the NRA and sealed their potential fate in the hands of boycotting NRA members. Not only did they annoy millions of American citizens, but the Delta company also had some other horrible information revealed. It appears as though Delta didn’t tell anyone they had a membership with the NRA. According to reports, only a reported 13 people ever used the Delta/NRA discount. That means Delta just cut off the NRA for 13 people and faced a bigger and more outlandish response from millions more.
Should NASCAR allow the Bristol Motor Speedway to retain their co-sponsor partnership with the NRA? Why would anyone cut ties with the NRA? They are a group just like every other group. They don’t sell guns. They aren’t responsible for mass shootings. The NRA is nothing more than a scapegoat for the left. The left needs someone to bully, so they pick the group who protects the second amendment, that way the left can feel like they’re accomplishing something when they’re not.
There are millions of legal gun owners in America. If we had a terrible gun problem, then we would all know it sooner than later. The majority of gun owners are responsible and law-abiding people, which is why they should not be blamed for a tragedy, nor targeted after one.
The bigger problem is discovering why people do what they do. It doesn’t matter how someone attacks a school – the real mystery is why.
Bristol Motor Speedway made the right choice to retain their co-sponsor in the NRA. Do you agree?
