A US politician sent shockwaves through a conference room after he made a series of bizarre claims in defense of US gun laws.
Offering his view on the right to bear arms , Alaskan representative Don Young implied that Jewish people were “put into the ovens” during the Holocaust because they did not carry weapons.
As soon as he asked the question, it was clear that not all members of the conference agreed with his statement.
Speaking to the room, Mr. Young asked: “How many millions of people were shot and killed because they were unarmed? Fifty million in Russia. How many Jews were put into the ovens because they were unarmed?”
The politician added: “My goal is to keep everybody that wishes to carry arms – that are legal – has the right to do so.”
However, halfway through his sentence, the politician was interrupted by a representative from Anchorage, Alaska, who shouted: “What are you doing? What are you doing?”
Exploding with anger, another male member told the politician to “shut up”, but Young told the Anchorage representative to ‘vote against him’ if he did not like what he was hearing.
Asking the representative how many murders had occurred in his constituency, to which the answer was ‘a lot’, Mr. Young then told him to “drop the subject”. (more)
