On the heels of NewsGuard, which blacklisted the Drudge Report and other conservative sites
Tech giant Microsoft is taking a step into the world of election security, offering a new open-source software called “ElectionGuard,” which it claims is an “end-to-end” voting verification system to “modernize” elections.
The last thing any sane person should want is to give anyone, much less Big Business, the power to decide what is and is not acceptable speech, what is and is not racism, what is and is not a conspiracy theory.
NewsGuard, the blacklisting arm of Microsoft, is still deliberately misleading Americans into believing debunked Russia Collusion Hoax headlines are credible.
Big tech has long since caved to the power of big journalism. The spread of the Russia collusion hoax, fully approved of by Microsoft partner NewsGuard, is only the latest example.
Donald Trump Jr. called out news “trustworthiness” browser plug-in NewsGuard over its “inherent bias,” Friday, after Media Matters was given a green rating by the Microsoft partner, despite the partisan outlet keeping an article which attacked conservatives who called Jussie Smollett’s debunked “hate crime” a hoax.
NewsGuard, the browser plug-in that purports to separate real news from fake news and which is included in Microsoft’s mobile Edge browser by default, rated the exact same story about mainstream media journalist Lara Logan encouraging people to read news outlets from across the spectrum as fake on Breitbart News, but reliable on other websites.
Journalists from the New York Times, Washington Post, and Bloomberg promoted a “completely fake” statistic “that doesn’t seem to exist” about sexism in technology this week.
Dhillon: NewsGuard reflects the “commonplace belief among these paternalistic elites that the common man needs to be protected from raw, ‘unfiltered’ news and opinion.”
NewsGuard, the establishment-backed “fact checker” that according to one report is approximately twice as likely to rate a conservative news site as “untrustworthy” compared to a non-conservative news site, urged caution to critics of the New York Times’ recent decision to alter a headline about Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring admitting to wearing blackface without notifying readers.
NewsGuard, the browser plugin that recently partnered with Microsoft and purports to indicate if news sources are trustworthy or not, is telling Internet users today that the new #NeverSocialist USA shirt on the Breitbart News shop is “fake news.”
NewsGuard, the browser extension that rates the “trustworthiness” of news outlets which is included by default in Microsoft’s mobile Edge browser, has removed the Daily Mail from its blacklist — which includes Breitbart News, WikiLeaks, and the Drudge Report. NewsGuard claims that with the “benefit” of the Daily Mail’s “input,” it realized “we were wrong.”
NewsGuard, the news publication ranking extension run by establishment media figures along with former Clinton, Obama and Bush administration members, warns that Breitbart is “Fake News” 13 times in one Google search.
Newsguard isn’t just a news-rating app — it also aims to deplatform pro-Trump media by cutting off its ad revenue.
